Where do you see yourself in 10 years? It is one of the most common questions relating to goal setting. You will find this question on a countless number of surveys and questionnaires, presented to all age groups and to people from all walks of life. Sometimes so much focus is placed on setting long term goals that the path leading to those goals becomes muddled and overwhelming. Suddenly the path to your better life is overgrown with obstacles such as family, work, finances and other daily activities that keep you from completing tasks that would take you closer to that goal. The tool you need to get past these obstacles is a simple one: Single Daily Action.
So what are Single Daily Actions? They are "small things" that you do every day that take you one step closer to long term goals. Whatever your long term goals are, whether they are to own a second home, a nicer car, be able to afford a 10 day cruise once a year or anything else, you need to do something everyday to bring that goal a little closer. It could be something as simple as researching areas where you someday want to live, looking for vehicle models with the features you want, or opening up a savings account for you "vacation fund". Single Daily Actions aren't necessarily BIG actions, they simply keep your goal at the front of your mind and help you achieve that goal both more quickly and more efficiently.
How do you go about deciding on your Single Daily Actions? The first thing you need is a long term goal. Following that, you need to determine what actions are necessary for you to reach it. Let's use the example of owning a second home. The actions necessary to make that goal a reality are: Deciding what "area" you want that home to be in (ie: on the beach, near a lake, in the mountains, etc), and researching homes in that area. You will want to determine an average price range for the kind of home you are looking for and set yourself on a budget. As you get closer to your goal you may want to go visit the areas you are looking at so you can see first hand which one you like the best. Finally, you will want to contact a realtor in that area to help you choose a home and make the purchase.
Now, that was only a few "actions" necessary to make your goal a reality. However there are small parts of these actions that you can do every day to help you get to that goal. For example, set a goal to look at 5 properties online per day. Set up a notebook with the location, square-footage and price of each home and compare these prices. Doing this will help you recognize a bargain when you see one! Also, you could open up a savings account where you can deposit a percentage of your monthly income to start accumulating a down payment for your second home. You may also want to research reality companies in that area and speak with several realtors by phone before selecting the one who would work the best for you and your situation.
By completing Single Daily Actions, you will keep your goal from getting "lost" in the shuffle of your day-to-day activities and be able to watch yourself get closer to that goal on a daily basis. You are far more likely to achieve that goal and to achieve it more quickly if you are doing something everyday to help it along, than if you put it in the back of your mind until it "gets a little bit closer". What you'll find if you do that, is that your goal will remain X number of years away, no matter how much time is passing because you are doing nothing to help yourself reach it. Single Daily Action will help you plot not only your destination, but also points along the way so you don't get lost on your journey.

Soul Calling For Expansion
We're met by many challenges in life: mental, physical, economical, environmental, community, cultural, political etc. And sometimes these challenges become painful. This article is about how we face these challenges.
On Monday, around 2pm, in Bristol, I hit threshold. By my own standards I'd been taking it easy for a while and I knew I needed a shake up.
Though my challenge was a physical one, the experience gained can be easily applied to any part of life. You see, we know the universe is constantly expanding, and it therefore makes sense that we must expand along with it.
Put simply we get comfortable. We begin to behave in a set manner or routine. We re-act (act out a learned response) without even thinking and then wonder why life has stopped moving forward.
I'd got comfortable. And when we get comfortable we stop expanding. And when we stop expanding for too long, being comfortable stops being comfortable.
My comfort zone was exercising at a steady 117 heart beats per minute, for around an hour. But with the encouraging nudge of my fitness trainer I found this expansion the Universe wants. My expansion took me to 165 heart beats per minute.
How do you think that felt?
I can assure you it was uncomfortable. But the discomfort didn't last. In fact next time I ran, the discomfort become more comfortable. And when I repeated it again today, it was almost easy.
Now take this across life. I asked myself this question. You might like to ask it too:
If I'm not expanding in one area of my life, could this be a reflection of other areas of my life too?
How will the Universe counter my actions? What has it been showing me, what have I been ignoring?
Time and time again I've been in a place where the Soul is crying out for a break. And every time that break comes. And every time it comes, it comes when I expand out of that comfort zone.
There is much to be done in our personal lives and much to be done in the world. Will it get done by sitting in comfort zones, or might we need to continually expand?
In business, getting your message to one extra person each day is expansion. A smile instead of a frown at your children is expansion of patience. Cutting down on food you know is bad for you is expansion of your self-will. A moment of tenderness with your partner is expansion of love. Picking up a bit of litter is expansion of your love for the environment. Chatting with the people at the bus stop is expanding community.

Believe!
Believe!
By Chance Massaro & Steve Wallis

The Science of Belief
It's in both religious and scientific texts: Belief is what you know is true, or possible. Your beliefs are your life. We see what we believe. For example, you can score higher on an intelligence test if you simply pretend you are an Einstein.
Psychologically, beliefs can be installed very quickly. If someone is helpful, you believe that they are nice. Research shows that smiling and looking on the bright side of life will help you feel happier. For example, if everyone says it's bad luck to walk under a ladder, you will tend to have bad experiences around ladders. Knowing that it is possible to shape our own beliefs is a very powerful tool for self-development.
The Story of Chance's Life
Until the age of three, I was raised by a single mother. Mom's modus operandi could be captured in the phrase "service to others." Even at that very young age, I saw many examples of her helping other people. Because of this early imprinting, it's really easy for me to think of others and what I may do for them. As a consultant and trainer, I am successful because I consistently help people believe in their own ability and self-worth.
People often hire me because things are not working well in their organization. When I first meet them, I listen for indications of their strengths; everyone has many strengths. I then give those signs back to them by saying, essentially, "You are strong (or creative or caring – whatever is true) and you can do this." People believe me and consistently go on to improve their lives.
Believing With Others
Note places in your day-to-day life where people ritualize a positive belief system. What do you say when your team launches a new product or service? What are the standard opening ceremonies of your office? The ritual ceremonies at these events signify that particular actions will follow – and those actions will produce positive results.
You can tap into this powerful force. All you need to do is create some simple rituals – they might be just a few words to use every time you and your coworkers sit down for a meeting. By the time these rituals become a habit you will have amazing results.
